Church of the King
Evacuation Updates

Join us this weekend…

September 4th, 2008

Hello church family!

I hope this note finds you well and back home - safe and sound!

I want to invite you to join us this weekend for one of our five weekend services – Saturday at 5PM and 6:45PM or Sunday at 8AM, 9:30AM and 11:15AM. Join me for this powerful time of encouragement from the Word of God. It will be wonderful to re-connect together as a spiritual family.

Also, you may be wondering – are we moving forward with A Life Made Beautiful? Yes, absolutely! We are excited and are looking forward to this time on September 12th and 13th when our women will reconvene and hear an encouraging word from Lisa Bevere. You can register online at churchofthekingwomen.com or after the weekend services.

In terms of scheduled events, all events and classes starting Saturday, September 6, 2008 are proceeding as scheduled.

I look forward to seeing you this weekend.

Your pastor,
Pastor Steve

St. Tammany Parish is Open!

September 3rd, 2008

Good Morning!

Kevin Davis has opened the parish as of 6am this morning.  Several of our team are making their way back today as power becomes available.  As a reminder, before you enter the parish on your way back remember to top off your gas tank.  There is some uncertainty as to the services that are available. You also probably want to stop outside the parish and get bottled water and any food you may need for a couple of days.

We are beginning relief efforts in the Baton Rouge area.  Pastor Mike Cuccia is leading a team that is helping in that area. Pastor Dave DeGarmo is heading up a team to help those in New Orleans - associated with the Dream Center.  We are also helping those in our church that have been effected as man power is available. You can be a part of these teams by meeting at the main church building at 7:30am each morning.

We will have weekend services this weekend.

We are praying for the safe return of you and all those from the New Orleans area.  Please pray for the Baton Rouge area as well - they really were effected and are having major power outages.

Pastor Randy

Monday, September 1, 2008, 4:30 P.M. - UPDATE

September 1st, 2008

Dear Church of the King family–

It seems that the worst of the storm has passed, but we need to continue to pray throughout the day not only for those in our area, but for those west of the New Orleans region.  We all need to say a prayer of thanks to God for sparing our region of what could have been a very devastating storm.  God definitely has a great plan and purpose for the great city of New Orleans.  Let’s pray that our region can quickly get back to normal in the aftermath of Gustav.

Immersion Night with Glenn Packiam on Thursday, September 4, has been cancelled and will be rescheduled at a later date.  He said he has been praying for us and our region. As for our weekly calendar, Men’s breakfast, Velocity Youth, and Thursday Morning Prayer are also cancelled. Weekend services for September 6 and 7 will take place as planned.  We can’t wait to see each and everyone of you this weekend.

Please continue to listen to our parish officials as to how and when to return to the area.  WWL radio at wwltv.com continues to be a good source of information for regional news.

Be safe,

Pastor Randy

Weekend Services for Sunday, August 31st are cancelled

August 30th, 2008

Due to a mandatory evacuation announced by St. Tammany parish officials all weekend services Sunday, August 31 are cancelled. At this point we are fully preparing for weekend services on September 6-7, unless St. Tammany parish officials do not lift the evacuation order. For future reference, Church of the King decisions in these situations always follow the direction of parish mandates.

Stay tuned to churchoftheking.com for updates. Click on Evacuation Update to keep track of the blog for messages from the Pastoral Staff. Our website is a vital point of communication in times like these. The website provides everything from Church status updates to Online Giving opportunities to general church information.

Remember, we can walk in God’s peace and presence – no matter the circumstances that surround us. John 14:27 says: Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Your pastor,

Pastor Steve
